Supporting our work
How can you support us? You can subscribe to New Humanist and tell your friends about it. You can become a member of the Rationalist Association. Or you can send us a donation.
Your money will be used to support things like our Mustard Seed Appeal. Mustard Seed is a school in Busota, Uganda, run by Moses Kamya (that's him with one of his classes). Moses is a school teacher who lost his job when the Catholic Schools he worked for found out that he did not believe in God. Inspired by the fledging humanist movement in Uganda Moses set up his own school based on secular humanist, principles. He now has more than 150 students of whom 19 receive full bursaries.
Since 2006 the RA and RA members have been supporting Moses, by running a campaign through the pages of New Humanist. So far over £20,000 has been sent to Mustard Seed, which has allowed them to construct a four room school house , sink a borehole so they can get fresh water and provide annual bursaries for all 19 pupils. Much has been done but much more is needed. you can donate to the Mustard Seed campaign right now. Call us on 0207 436 1151.
Update: If you'd like to know more about the challenges faced by the non-religious in Uganda, read Moses Kamya's account of the rise in street evangelism by the exploitative Pentecostal churches on the streets of the capital Kampala.
