Wild eyes, wild hair, the face seemed hardly sane

Filing the TV screen, but yes, Saddam Hussein.

There was nothing once he'd thought he'd not attain. But what had he even to plead with now?

American crop-head with unfurrowed brow

Put on his rubber gloves, thinking how

The sonofabitch might pass on bugs or what?

Tilted the head back, pull the mouth wide,

fraught -

Who was? - with fear, hatred? - all to be caught

On camera - torch and spatula in the cave

Of darkness that had send commands to rave

Across the sand. no longer brash or brave.

Some say he only got what he deserved.

Some say the cause of justice was at last served.

I say there are decencies which were not observed.
