Robin Ince

As those of you in the UK swelter through this July heatwave, why not cool yourself down by casting your mind forward to December, and thinking about how you could celebrate science and rationalism in the run up to Christmas.

Because yes, that's right, as sure as Yuletide itself, our annual rationalist celebration Nine Lessons and Carols for Godless People returns again this year, and thanks as always to the hard work of creator and compere Robin Ince, it's set to be bigger than ever before.

Taking place at its spiritual home, London's Bloomsbury Theatre, Nine Lessons 2013 will take place on 10-11 and 15-22 December. That's a whopping 10 nights, and Robin has put together a line-up to match – performers on all nights are Steve Pretty's Band, Grace Petrie, Joanna Neary, Matt Parker, Jonny & the Baptists, George Egg and Helen Arney, with highlights on other nights including Scroobius Pip, Alexei Sayle, Darren Hayman and Nine Lessons newcomer Lee Mack.

You can see the full (albeit ever-subject to expansion and change) line up over on the Bloomsbury Theatre website, where you can also book your tickets. It may be 30 degrees outside, but winter is coming and you surely don't want to miss out.
